As far as Discogs knows this is Bernard Szajner's first LP. It is inspired by Frank Herbert's science fiction novel "Dune" and it's a trip! Two side-long tracks that take you to Arrakis and beyond. Have a nice flight!

Oh Nandu, What Have We Done?

Promise is promise. Here's the Zenamon self titled LP from 1984. As you see in the image above it was released on Polydor.... so it's not mad rare but at the same time not easy to find. Though you will find a copy at a decent price maybe even before the recent run for it (caused by the appearance of one song of this LP in a Harvey mix) is over. The whole LP has really not much to do with dance music (imho) as some may want to think. It's actually pretty mellow and also "folky" at times. Music lovers into Balearic will find reasons to call parts of it balearic as well. Anyway - when I listen to music I don't mind too much about categories - I just listen and I'm happy when the music touches me and that 's how I got to appreciate this LP. Bought it because of the fancy cover and didn't expect a bit when listening to it for the first time. Some years ago I didn't really listen to a lot of that kinda "esoteric" ; ) stuff but I somehow liked it instantly and to my surprise it got better and better. I hope I'm not ruining your first time listening by these here words. I just want to add: Don't expect too much, take your time - maybe it works.

Ja! Ja! Ja!

Ja Ja Ja is Frank Samba, Julie Jigsaw and Wietn Wito. Their first and only LP was produced by Pyrolator back in 1982. In opposition to a lot of young german bands of that time the vocals are english mostly. If you want them categorized - Ja Ja Ja sounds like something between the B52s and The Dance or Tom Tom Club plus a little bit of rapping on Graffitti Artists International. And they sound fresh! Check out I am an animal and you know what I mean.

Ananas!

Don Paulin recorded a few LPs in the 60s. Most of them are not my cup of tea. This one is! With the help of Ingfried Hoffmann (Why don't you play the organ, man), Siegfried Schwab and all those cats, he recorded a very nice south american influenced LP including classics like Constant Rain (Chove Chuva) and lots of own compositions. Enjoy!

WHAM BANG!!

ES (it) is Bernd Kiefer on Bass and Vocals; Zabba Lindner on Drums, Xylophone and Vocals; and Georg Kochbeck on Keyboards [Fender Piano, Solina, Hohner Clavinet D6, Micro Moog, Multi Moog] and Lead Vocals. With the help of some friends like Alto Pappert from Kraan and Alex Conti (Atlantis) they produced a very nice and jazzy "Kraut" LP that I deeply love for those spatial and atmospheric tracks like Dream and Earth And Space. Nevertheless the rest of the album is really worth a nice listening session. Maybe two.... Enjoy!!

Spisek Sześciu - Complot of six (1976 Muza)

This was one of my first Polish Jazz LPs and I was in love immediately. It was the bassline of Visions that made me spin this record again and again. I really dig this free approach to it. All in all a top notch album. Hope you guys like it.

Pascal von Wroblewsky - Swinging Pool (1986 Amiga)

Now here you have only 2 tunes by East German scat wonder Pascal von Wroblewsky. She recorded the "Swinging Pool" album at the age of 24. About ten years after her first apperarence on stage. (Didn't find that much info on her early work - btw she's still performing...) A year later she recorded an LP with her group Bajazzo (I'll post that later on). Earlier outings of Bajazzo are to be found on an early 80s Amiga comp, if I remember it right. Anyway, I've never ripped the whole LP, because I didn't really dig it all, so here's the 2 standout tracks of the Swinging Pool. The light and airy classic Maiden Voyage and the highly recommended scat earworm Swinging Pool. Let me know if you are interested in the rest of the LP and I'll rip it....

Finally a Fata Morgana!

There have been a couple of requests for this nugget and I finally found the time to dig my rip out of the sanddunes of my hard disk. Unlike the first album which I think is good from beginning to end this one has two HUGE hits. Regina's Dance and the title track that covers almost the complete B-Side. The lineup is quite the same as on Dreamlike Land: Liebezeit, von Senger, Heilhecker, Zerlett, and Krachten (if you don't know 'em already, check out everything Dunkelziffer or Dominik von Senger ever recorded because that's them guys and they rule!)

Heavy Metal

The name speaks for itself. Not for the stylistic orientation, but for the heavy use of brass! These guys are highly energetic and pretty fast. I'd bet my ass they visited the music conservatorium. When I listened to it first I got stuck at Klimat Dialogu, a sambaesque tune (the final track) and then worked my way back throught the album. Now I really enjoy every little bit and that's why I'd like to share it with you here.......

Of course it's T. C. P. - Tony Carey Project.... As a follow up to the almighty Paul Durango's posts of some of his early 80s LPs here's the one still missing on a couple of hard drives. My vinyl is not a near mint copy, but I hope it'll be fine for now. This stuff often is labeled as cosmic music, but if you ask me I'd say it's just damn good synth pop. What do you think?

If you believe the hype this is cosmic disco at it's best ; ) If you don't it's still a darn nice electronic album that has some juicy disco rhythms. Some funky drums as well and a good portion of obscure sounds coming out of Julius Vilnonis selfmade Vilnius-5 electronic organ!!
The best thing about the music: just like this LP it is composed for theatre plays, performances, ballet and that kinda weird stuff.
The Argo Electronic Music Group used to be sort of the houseband of the Kaunas Musical Theatre in Lithuania. The sound of this record isn't too brilliant. I know a good couple of guys who own this record and it's the same with all of them copies - looks mint & sounds shit. Nevertheless have a listen and feel free to do some modern dance ......

Here you are! Some funky polish Pop. On Side A Lady Lobaszewska is accompanied by singer Piotr Schulz. Didn't like this slow groover at first, but it was growing over the last years... so I can say I'd prefer it to the danceable B Side Za Gora Gor that features the almighty Ergo Band.

Man Spricht Deutsch!

"Man spricht Deutsch" is the title of Kaarst's private press FOLK! LP from 1979. Translated: One speaks german. And that's what Kaarst do. They actually sing! Unfortunately most of the folks downloading and listening to this wonderful album won't snap the beauty of the lyrics. It's really some of the uprightest stuff I've heard by now. You can easily tell that he's been observing mankind with a pair of open eyes. Call me a wussy, but - man - those "dedicated tracks" like Ingwerfrau (Gingerwoman) and Für Lisa (For Lisa) really wetten my eyes. Kurz vor Ostern is something like a reqiuem for a lady born in 1890, having experienced two world wars, her children dying in the Panzer and 20 years of loneliness in a nursing home.... I hope the way Reinhard Firchow is singing gives you a glimpse of what I mean !?! He might not be the most talented singer in the world but he's really touching me and that's what it's about!  Perfect music to watch the clouds rush by ..... Viel Spass!

PS. This folk tends to be pretty light and jazzy

Anima Latina

I am listening to a lot of italian music at the moment and I think I'm not alone........ I deeply dig most of Lucio Battisti's music and cannot decide which one's my favourite. It's this LP here from 1974 or "La Batteria, Il Contrabbasso, Eccetera " from 1976, which includes the celebrated "Il Veliero". I chose to post this one here......

Berlin Fusion

How many of those guy are shaved? Back to the year 1979. Beardos were hip back in those days! It's not really easier to find some shaved faces in Berlin today...... Anyway - four groups, who didn't have the money to record their own LPs gathered to record just one LP together. With a bit of finacial encouragement by the Berlin's "Senator for Cultural Affairs" they had 8 studio days to record what is heard on the here featured LP.
Pretty nice stuff though. I wonder what else might pop up by these guys. I know of a Live-LP by Arakontis and a studio LP by Chameleon. By now there was nothing to be found about Changes and Margò.

Sexy, Sexy, Sexy

Yes, sexy & enterprising Sylvia Robinson (of Sugarhill Fame) has the cure for every man's sickness right in that grail. I'd bet there's a good dose of L.A. Sunshine in there. In here there's lots of slow and sexy jams. Nice one by the fireside. Don't forget to soften the bearskin. I like her first called "Pillow Talk" as well (the cover is even funnier), but this here got synths.

How I love this world ......

What is the most beautiful thing about Disco-Music written for a ballet?
You (imagine being the performing artist) don't have to care too much about the masses spread across the globe's dancefloors yearning for cheap hooks and stupid refrains (not that I don't fall for them...). Instead you may care about the MUSIC an make it something unique. I'm incredibly happy that Monsieur Petit got that chance to produce this LP along with some well known (at least for all you Discodiggers) musicians such as Andre Ceccarelli, Piere-Alain Dahan and Jean Schultheis in 1980(what a wonderful year!).
Jean Claude Petit is really going wild on various instruments (see Discogs for the LIST of synths, sequencers and keyboards JCP used) and I therefor praise him. I wanted to write a bit about the songs included, but to be honest I don't where to start and how to reduce it to a bit then. So I quit losing words and move to the point. Due to the fact that this quite rare LP unfortunately has not been reissued wether on CD nor LP I don't have any pangs of conscience to post this beautiful piece of music here or here

Aetheral Swimsuit

Bliss is the word. Just imagine it was summer.... I can tell you this lovely LP works pretty nice with some sand under your feet............. Here's Suzanne Ciani's first LP from 1982. A trip and a peaceful one. I would have called her a new age pianist, if I didn't read a tiny bit about her work.... so now I'll call her a classical music composer. Anyway - this one is out on CD, so I won't keep the link up for a long time. There's also a bunch of used LPs to be found in the web! I hope you guys understand that I won't react to reupping requests after a week or two. I just want to promote wonderful stuff like this.
