Hirsch & Baum & Abendstern
here's one of my favourite finds of the last years - Thierfeldt's "Dilattantischer Sentimentalismus".
Wolfgang Thierfeld, a member of the amazing Release Music Orchestra, is accompanied by Krzystof Scieranski, Hans-Dieter Lorenz, Friedemann Graef, Albrecht Riermeier, Zbigniew Namyslowski, Paul B. Engel and Bubacar Jameh. Their jazz is contemporary and it's awsome imho. Ambient fusion? I don't know - listen and tell me what you hear!

Happy new year folks!
The growing bin PROUDLY presents a wonderful, deep and eclectic mix by L.A. based musician, hobby gardener, cat & dog friend and music lover Wolfgang a.k.a. Zuckerzeit a.k.a. Zucker Chimney.
Being a big fan of his mixes I am correspondingly VERY happy to host one of these beauties now .
Please spread your "Savant Wings" and take an hour long trip around the music world starting in Wolfgang's garden in California (see pics). Fly over to Germany, or to Japan, Spain and Brasil. From Norway over Hungary to the Netherlands, Mexico or Africa and back to Japan - then listen again : )

the growing bin informs again
After Cracklin' Chimney (thanks a lot, man) posted a Lullatone video over at Dreamchiney's TOTD I ordered the first copy I could get a hold of. This is some damn beautiful music. I'm pretty sure it will make children sleep and dream the sweetest dreams but it also creates a wonderful atmosphere in our adult kitchen everytime I play that CD (and that's almost daily!!!)
How they promote the CD here: “Let Lullatone send you to sleep with their newest collection of lullabies. Originally composed for their newborn son, this set of merry-go-round melodies is the perfect bedtime background music for babies and adults alike. Each track is specially composed to loop seamlessly using the “repeat one” function on your CD or mp3 player, allowing unlimited long listening. Single melodies can also be enjoyed seamlessly for hours at a time as you drift to dreams, letting the songs spin in circles. And the artwork also uses a special die cut cover to allow the music’s disc to spin too! The production on the album features a high level of sound science to ensure ultimate effectiveness in snooze induction. Underwater recordings, heartbeats as drumbeats and tape hiss as ambient white noise are just the beginning of the shuteye science the duo employed to create their most careful concept album to date.”
Ace present for young parents btw ; )

Oh Nandu, What Have We Done?

Promise is promise. Here's the Zenamon self titled LP from 1984. As you see in the image above it was released on Polydor.... so it's not mad rare but at the same time not easy to find. Though you will find a copy at a decent price maybe even before the recent run for it (caused by the appearance of one song of this LP in a Harvey mix) is over. The whole LP has really not much to do with dance music (imho) as some may want to think. It's actually pretty mellow and also "folky" at times. Music lovers into Balearic will find reasons to call parts of it balearic as well. Anyway - when I listen to music I don't mind too much about categories - I just listen and I'm happy when the music touches me and that 's how I got to appreciate this LP. Bought it because of the fancy cover and didn't expect a bit when listening to it for the first time. Some years ago I didn't really listen to a lot of that kinda "esoteric" ; ) stuff but I somehow liked it instantly and to my surprise it got better and better. I hope I'm not ruining your first time listening by these here words. I just want to add: Don't expect too much, take your time - maybe it works.
cheers,
Basso
ps. I hope it will be reissued sometime soon
