Orbital Star

Not without a good portion of melancholy I am posting this wonderful & romantically rare album. Just recently friend of the bin Jamie tried to contact Li Garattoni after finding this LP and had to find out she had already passed away in 2004 - far too early. When he told me I had to think of one track from this LP - "Orbital Star". It might be a nice thing to think of Li Garattoni as a star orbiting around earth now. I hardly know anything about her (well, her sign was Taurus), but her lyrics and music touched me and when I listen to it she's still here......

buy it, buy it, buy it

Please be so kind and save me from further reup requests. you can buy most of the tunes officially and the money goes to her family.....

Dude, every now and then I am blown away. For some reason I think of Laurence Vanay when I hear this.

Just seeing this now Basso :)

A little story..

I found this in the last few hours of of a record fair having already given up all hope of finding anything interesting. I thought I'd spend a bit of time of time listening to anything interesting and having pulled out a reasonably priced copy of Peter Garattoni's Jonathan LP the seller enthusiastically directed me through the box towards the Li Garattoni explaining 'ah then you must hear his wife's LP'

I can feel the goosebumps now just thinking about hearing this LP for the first time.. man what came through those headphones! no skipping through to the best tracks here.. I sat there and listened to the whole damn thing.. and then a few tracks again. The seller asked tentatively whether I liked it.. I can tell now that this record meant as much to him as it does now to me. I was completely lost for words and mumbled something like 'wow.. uh.. yeah.. er.. wow'.. More than simply being happy it wouldn't have to go back into his box for another record fair I could tell he was genuinely pleased it would be going to a happy home. Such is the way with amazing records like this.

Li's daughter Marcella also told me she became a buddhist monk in more recent years before she passed away. She seemed genuinely touched that there was interest in the record. It's truly a wonderful wonderful LP and very moving somehow.. as you so rightly described in your description Basso.

it was the nice guy from Munich in the first row from the left (close to the smokers area), wasn't it?

it was the row behind edo's stall so yes the first and it would be to the left if you were standing in that area where people were smoking.. he was a really nice guy.. only had one box but really interesting stuff i remember.. think i got a klaus weiss from him too. he told me he only ever found the li garattoni twice and he was looking for it a long time. i think i was a few euro short and he let it slide ..if i see him again i'll make a point of give him those 2 euro! ;)

Only just discovered this!

What an amazingly beautiful album. Have been listening to the whole thing three times already since I downloaded it today.

Do you know who plays Piano/keyboards on this one? The Discogs release doesn't mention it which I think is a shame beceause there's some really beautiful piano playing on this one.

Is it possible that the (inner) sleeve doesn't even mention it? ... Man, that'd be a bummer. :(

Uli Bühl plays Piano and keyboards. Helmut Grab (Sw. Shantiprem) plays the Minimoog on "In The Still Of The Night", "Friends" and "Child of Venus"
Cheers!

Thanks for the info!

So it's that guy that also plays on Peter Garattoni's "Jonathan" LP. Shame he doesn't appear on too many other albums (according to Discogs).

Going only off a few youtube clips this sounds incredible. Any chance of a re-up of the link?
