Cosmic Hero

Rouge production library cosmic gems composed by Chris Evans-Ironside and played by Astral Sounds. This one is from 1982 and features synthesizers (of course) and a splendid rhythm section. Lots of slapped bass strings. A few of the tracks are straight up cosmic disco and others are brooding soundtrack pieces (Unknown Aliens).

I won't keep you waiting but I can totally understand where Cesare is coming from. Some of my recent posts have one comment per 200 downloads. We know that's all you're here for. Maybe you have no idea how much time goes into ripping vinyl, splitting tracks, converting to mp3 format, tagging, photographing
and editing sleevery, zipping, uploading the files and offering a bit of a description of the music. Thankless task? For the most part. Do you expect feedback or a thank you when you gift someone with a rarity? Of course not . . .

sorry, guilty as charged. I do just download without thanks.
I'll make a point of at least saying thanks from now on.

I concur with other guilty d/l here, thank you for all the hard work, will make sure to comment going forward. Have you heard Laszlo Benko's Lexikon? I just made a rip of that but dont have a proper blog or anything and was thinking of sending it your way.

I apreciate the hell out of how well this blog is curated, a very sincere thank you from someone rooting around all day for obscurites and samples.

@Ghost Arcade, Lexikon is an old favorite. Just posted a track from it on Dream Chimney last month. Lászlo Benkö is a talented fellow. Thanks for the offer.

Another thanks here. I've discovered some great things via this blog - and have been searching for that Serge Blenner record for ages (any chance of posting his other early ones?)

After you posted that one track at the chimney I was close to buy the next copy available online. low funds so I didn't and 5 days later it was gone ..... finally found a copy in Denmark last year and I'm damn happy with it. Good sound for a Rouge, too! Thanks for a high quality rip : )

Strangely I was just checking out a few other blogs "comments to downloads" ratio and I came up with the 200 to 1 figure as well; so you can pretty much say we now live in a world where 199 people out of 200 now treat music blogs as some kinda free "download and go" Itunes and one single person out of 200 has the courtesy and respect to say thank you for all the hard work it takes to rip,tag and upload the records as well as write something informative and witty about the release, find a suitable picture and then post it on the blog.

Infact it gets worse in some ways as often times half the people who leave a comment only do so if they are asking for either a repost, to find them a record they can't find themselves or to ask if someone can identify a particular track or to moan about the quality of the rip!

I make a point of leaving at least a thank-you on about 90% of the things I download. Firstly because its just basic human decency and secondly I know how pissed off and demoralised a blogger can get when s/he sees hundreds of downloads per post and zero comments, combine that with the outbreak of the fascist mind courtesy of the DMCA and Google and we wonder why bloggers give up!

Anyway, back to the Astral Sounds 'Hercules' album, I have it in 320 rip if anyone is interested and have the "Red Kite" and "Melodious Thunk" Astral Sounds albums as well (these are not my rips) all at 320.

The troule with Astral Sounds is the fact that over half a dozen different artists used the name over around 14 releases...having said that the three I have are all amazing...really looking for their 1980 'Space Drive' album or any other Astral Sounds albums that are floating around.

Zeroy, Basso and all the rest at the Growing Bin, you are freakin' stars in my eyes for turning me onto so much strange and beautiful music and I am glad to see this post has got some responses.

PS> Ghost Arcade - do you have the 1982 Laszlo Benko 'Lexikon' album in 320? Just got it in 192 and I would love a higher bitrate so I can play around with the 'Fata Morgana' track. Anyone know what Lexikon II is like released a couple of years later?

@the saucer people - i do have a 320 rip of lexikon but there is a single annoying skip on the circuz track i have to see about fixing. i also scored the second lexicon record when i picked up the first, definitely way cheesey but enjoyable. i will try to re-rip the skippy track and lexikon II asap.

Say no more. I don't come here as often as I would like (or as I remember), but that's no excuse. You have on of the most interesting and selective blogs and we ought to respect your work. Thank you very much for the great and unknown music.

@ Ghost Arcade

many thanks for your kind offer to link me up with Laszlo Benko's Lexikon I & II albums, most appreciated....also let me know if there are any releases you are looking for, you never know I may be able to help.

No worries if it takes you a while or you cannot fix the Cirkusz skip, really looking forward to hearing Number Two as well!

And for anyone who has anymore Astral Sounds albums and who would be willing to swap for something similar please leave a message.

I wonder how I know the title track?? - It appears on here: http://librarymusicrarities.blogspot.com/2010/09/cosmic-future-groove-vol-1-is-out-now.html
I guess you know this last years compilation, but if you don't - it's a nice one! (For you german guys: Track A8 on this is the theme of scandalizing news programme "Spiegel TV" and was also sampled by early german hip hop group Advanced Chemistry for their 1992s "Fremd im eigenen Land".)
Thank you for your fine work with this blog!!
Best, zerzausung

I got a hot tip that this album was well worth the time to listen. All I had to do was find a source with a clean copy.

Thanks for taking the time to post this up and judging from the original date (2010) you've managed to keep it up since then. I really do appreciate your efforts and that of your co-librarians all over the 'net in keeping the old music up for new fans to discover all over again.

I've visited this blog before but I think after tonight I'm going to have to become a regular.

Thanks again and keep up the good work because those of us who do appreciate old library music and blogs such as yours, really really are in love with this genre.

Cheers!
