the universe is velvet

By request: "Velvet Universe" was 2 young men from the area around Frankfurt/Germany - Thomas Kapke and RAIS (RAIner Sauer). They had a soft spot for epic electronic trips with guitars and astronauts voices. So do we. This record is their first from 1981. "Enigmas", their second from 1983, has also been released on Blubber Lips, a fantastic small label from Heidelberg/Germany. Check out more info on discogs. If you have further information please enlighten us. Cheers!

Dear Mr. Hufnagel,
I have tried but I didn't like it separated. Detroys the atmosphere somehow. That's why my reply is: NO WAY.
Kindest regards, Basso

Thank you SO much for this!! I've been waiting to hear this album in its entirety for over 25 years (taped side A off the radio in the early 80's). Very nice rip too.

Any chance of posting the other early Serge Blenner albums? (I know it was Zeroy who posted Magazin Frivole a while back - I'm still looking for the first one (La Vogue), Fracture Interne & Plaisir Ardent).

Dear Basso, you're doing an excellent job in blogging: respect & thanks to you. I enjoy your posts very much. RAIS of Velvet Underground is the short form of RAIner Sauer, today working for radio stations. Have a look here:

Best! molto
PS: Do you keep the albums by Adrian Wagner "Instincts" and "The last Inca"?

Thanks a lot, Molto! Just tried the radiostation but it seems the website has not been updated since 2007. I am very curious to hear these radioshows Mr. Sauer made in the 80s. I'll see if I can contact him.
PS. Yes, these Adrian Wagner LPs are great : )

Here's Mosfilmprodukt again: Huh, this LP was really painful for me: Incredibly amatheur work, horribly empty "music" from persons without any gift. Congratulations: I rarely heard so bad album and it has a top rank among the worst albums ever. In details: no melody at all, almost no chord-texture, the sonic timbres are just presets from the synths and drummachines of the era, no developement throughout the album and absolutely lack of dramaturgy. There's a melodyline which wants to express something very seriously and it's technically just a rise of chords comes from the childiest state of mind. (When I first met a synth, I felt exactly the same to do with it in order to express something seriously and pressed the same chord-sequences...)Collage of sounds. That's all. Personally me, I thank you for every single uploads anyway!!

er?? Great soundscape to these ears. Got some catching up at the bin and this is a spooked sonic welcome back.

Pretty harsh words above by anonymous. Just curious as to what this person would consider to be a great album?

seems like he really liked the "Krzysztof Ścierański - Bass Line" LP. I'd bet he also won't like V.U.'s second LP. I don't mind and will post it the next days : )

... and in the end it's me, RAIS (s.i.c.).

If you want to contact me, you have to write to rais@velvetuniverse.com or contact Mr. Thomas Kapke c/o www.thomas-kapke.de. There's a lot more good music from VU all around the universe and until you can hear it, you can listen to the original tapes of my radioshow of the 80s "Sounds vom Synthesizer". Click to www.mynewradio.de and you can hear it every night from midnight to 2 p.m. CET. VCA future 4 Elektromusik.
