Bobby Beige - On Ibiza

Here's a mix by my friend Bobby Beige recorded whilst his first residency on Ibiza this autumn. He  usually plays lovely records all summer long in the wonderful Garden in Zadar, Croatia. Ibiza isn't bad either - especially La Escollera where the magic happened that you'e about to hear ;)
Bobby's in the music biz for a long time already. Being part of the Pork collective (he recorded as Bullitnuts, Opik and Momma Gravy) Bobby's playing chilled out music since the mid nineties. Apart from being a supernice guy Bobby got TASTE and knows his shit from Azymuth to Thrill Jockey. I had the pleasure to play some hours of back to back with him this summer and every tune that he dropped was brilliant! Just as this selection. Thanks a lot Bobby!!

Kenneth Bager - Music For Dreams

Here's some baked delights directly from danish pioneer Kenneth Bager 's lovely oven. Being a DJ and producer since the 80s he knows damn well how to use some tasty ingredients.  He's has been on national radio in Denmark for 4 decades and keeps playing old discoveries, new and interesting music every monday on his Music For Dreams show on Ibiza Sonica radio.
Kenneth has worked with Julee Cruise, Jean Luc Ponty, Aloe Blacc, Damon C Scott from Storm Queen and Sofie Gråbøl, leading actress from the cult Tv series "The Killing" are featured on his forthcoming album "Follow the Beat".
While Kenneth is not making music or playing in Ibiza, he throws some of the best parties around - his Coma Club celebrated the 25th anniversary last year. He also does a festival called "The Apple Flower Festival" together with Danish chef Claus Meyer - some of the line up for this year is: Gigi Masin playing live (!!), Phil Mison, Tako & Abel, HubbabubbaKlubb as well as yours truly :)
Not to Forget his label Music For Dreams having released more than 65 albums to date. In his mix for the growing bin Kenneth takes us on a relaxed and classy stroll through some decades of amazing music.
Thanks so much Kenneth!

Henri Aleksi - Closing Time In Mexico

the growing bin has been sent some lovely mixes in the last weeks and and I'm sorry that didn't yet manage to post these - until today!
so we're going to spoil you with 3 mixes in a row now - starting off with Henri Aleksi's Closing Time in Mexico.
Henri's a music lover from Helsinki. He's studying Portugese and Latin American studies - no surprise then that there's a lot of that wonderful south american organic sound in the mix. He mingles it with contemporary classical, blissful jazz, ambient and balearic tunes and creates an atmosphere that makes me want to set sails for the desert.....and blissfully drift away - LISTEN!

Thanks Henri!!

last mixes

Nice people have been asking me for mixes lately. Here's what I recorded after pausing from making mixes since december. Cocktails By The Pool is the first mix of a series mixes called The Breeze. It's pretty tropical / balearic, sometimes even emotional and a bit cheesy too whilst Plum Flowers In Golden Vase (named after the first track) is more eclectic with a touch of friendly voodoo. Not to forget the relaxed and Lazy Day For The Sirens , the second mix in The Breeze series. Hope you enjoy them! Summer's here : )
Watch out for some breezy edits coming your way soon ...
Cheers, Basso

Julian Horn - North and South and East and West

Anybody up for a mix full of amazing tunes?
Of course you are, so let's welcome vienna's one and only Julian Horn - DJ and producer of blissed out balearic tunes and remixes, currently residing in Berlin. We are happy to offer you an hour of beautiful and deep tunes that take you to a place somewhere in the holy land of organic jazz, sophisticated ambient & ethereal balearic. What i especially like about this mix is that every song was given it's room to breathe yet flavoured by his neighbours!
Perfect music for a sunny sunday like this.....
I guess by now not only those who have heard his lovely mixes on Noncollective and Higher Love are really looking forward to THIS.

Thanks Julian!

more of the good news:
watch out for some beautiful new tunes by Julian out later this year !!!

Seekmagic - Treasure of Secrets

Time for another guest mix!
This time we proudly present Seekmagic's Nick Cubley from Newcastle upon Tyne /UK. He began the lovely seekmagic blog back in 2009 as a means of putting his mixes out on the internet after friends told him they were worthy of a wider audience (AND OH YES,  THEY ARE!)
"Treasure of secrets" is a true reflection of the music Nick plays at the Seekmagic nights. He hosts these together with his friends Dave Lovenbury and Danny Potts. Check them guys out on the last saturday of every month, at their spiritual home in the city, The Tanners Arms
But first listen to his wonderful laid back mix ....

Thanks a lot Nick!

No Crime

Toshifumi Hinata released a couple of LPs - all I've heard are amazing. Not easy to categorize, but I think "ambient minimal Pop with a classical touch" would give you an idea of it?? Sarah's Crime is his first as far as I know and my favourite  Toshi LP. That's why I share it here. Cheers, Basso

Klas - A Beach Bum Mix

Hi folks, we're having another guest mix at the bin and it's one for the summer! My man Klas from Sweden had sent this over 2 weeks ago and it has been enjoyed a lot over here so I asked him if it would be okay to share it on the bin. It is!
Here's what Klas says about it: The mix is inspired partly by the beach scenes in the movie Fletch, partly by heavy beach bums like José Padilla, DJ Harvey and Coyote, obviously some tracks in the mix are more or less "borrowed" from mixes of theirs. The background is that I started to think about guys who like ski bums looking for the best uncharted slope would go from island to island, looking for the perfect unknown beach. This mix takes place on such a place with such a crowd of beach bums, hanging out, fishing and bathing in the sun.

Sounds like fun, huh? It is! Here's the tracklist:

1. Rod McKuen - Beach Town
2. Larry Carlton - Wavin And Smilin
3. Graham Nash - Out On The Island
4. Ned Doheny - Labor Of Love (With Paul Horn playing flute and Haida singing in the background)
5. Claude Larson - Wave Sequences
6. Dave Mason - Sweet Music
7. Gilberto Gil - Maracatu Atomico
8. Richard Schneider Jr - Hello Beach Girls
9. W. Gogolewski - Piano Underlay
10. Buju Banton - Inter Lingua (with blackbird singing in background)
11. Fleetwood Mac - Sara
12. Laurie Anderson - My Eyes
13. Tanita Tikaram - Hot Stones
14. Brenda Ray & Prince Far I - Sweet Sweet Wine
15. The Beach Boys - All I Wanna Do
16. Tangerine Dream - Beach Theme
17. Rod McKuen - Beach Town (with PJ Harvey's seagulls singing in the background)
18. The Lovin' Spoonful - Darling Be Home Soon

and here's the mix

Thanks Klas!

Dreamlike Land

Richard Schneider Jr.' s "Dreamlike Land" is my favourite LP for quite a while now.
Please excuse that I won't say anything about the style of this goody. Just imagine Jaki Liebezeit on Drums, a guy called Jumpy (Helmut Zerlett) on keys & synths, almighty Wolfgang Maus on Bass and an ironic Mr. Schneider on Glockenspiel, Acoustic 12 String guitar, Synthesizer, Tubelar Bells, Tambourine & Cowbells ........ See you at the beach!

Cheers,
Basso
